2011 Indian Rim Asian University Games Being Withdrawn

With regret the University of Western Australia (UWA) Sport and Recreation Association has cancelled the 2011 Indian Rim Asian University Games (IRAUG).

Economic pressures such as the strong Australian dollar have impacted on the numbers of students able to compete this year. As a consequence, it is no longer viable for the UWA Sport and Recreation Association to hold the Games.

Since 2005, more than 1,500 international and 800 Australian university athletes have competed in the Games which have been held every second year.

Please note: Judo and Cricket events will still be going ahead outside of IRAUG.
