Ceremonial dance

Games Launch

The official launch of the 2009 Indian Rim Asian University Games will take place on June 4th 2009. The Vice Chancellor of The University of Western Australia, Prof. Alan Robson, will be joined by the Minister for Tourism and Education Honourable Dr Elizabeth Constable MLA to launch the event.

Opening Ceremony

An official ceremony will mark the opening of the games. All participating teams will be welcomed to Western Australia and wished well on their journey for the coming days. This ceremony will include a traditional indigenous welcome conducted by representatives of Noongar people.

More ceremonial dancing

Closing Ceremony

A chance to celebrate achievements from through out the week by all teams in all sports. This event will focus on the recognition of the games champions, presentation of the “Spirit of the Games Award” and the official close to all proceedings.

Social & Cultural Functions

Through out the event a series of cultural and tourism based events will be established to ensure the Indian Rim Asian University Games is as well regarded for it’s sporting competition as it is for unique and far reaching cultural exchanges.
