Touch

Touch is one of the newest additions to the IRAUG sports program, as 2011 is the debut year for the sport.

The International Rugby Board, which serves as the world governing body of Rugby Union, published the first official rulebook for touch rugby in November 2010.

Touch rugby has a number of differences from traditional rugby, namely, its simplicity, ease of learning and decreased likelihood of injury. As a result it is a popular social game; mixed-gender and women-only games are also very popular.

Touch is expected to prove to be very popular in the 2011 IRAUG, and will be played at the UWA Sport & Research Park - arguably one of the best rugby playing and viewing grounds in Western Australia.
